In 1984, Kerrang! still didn’t know what they were doing and it would take a couple of more years before the proper metal releases would end up on their “End of year lists.”
If you look at the list below, this looks like a terrible year for metal and hard rock. I mean, Prince in second place. Even though we all like Prince, this is probably not the right forum.
Chequered Past, Legs Diamond, White Sister, John Cougar Mellencamp, Stevie Ray Vaughan (and I strongly advise you to youtube Jim Dandy - Ready as Hell. Is he for real?)
So, no good metal albums came out in 1984, let’s move on to 1985

What about Dio – The Last in Line, Metallica – Ride the Lightning, Yngwie Malmsteen – Rising Force, Iron Maiden – Powerslave, Bathory – Bathory, Anthrax – Fistful of Metal and Mercyful Fate – Don’t Break the Oath
